NorthWestern Energy Replacing Natural Gas Line on 32nd Street North in Great Falls

Date: Apr 30, 2026

TYPE: News

Great Falls, Mont. – April 30, 2026 – NorthWestern Energy will begin a project to replace a section of natural gas main along 32nd Street North, between 1st Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North, starting Monday, May 4.

The project includes replacing a six‑inch natural gas main with a new eight‑inch line in the alley north of 3rd Avenue North. Crews will replace approximately 400 feet of pipe, improving the system to support future growth in the area.

Traffic impacts are expected during construction. Flaggers and temporary lane closures will be in place to help manage traffic, and some detours may be required. NorthWestern Energy thanks both drivers and pedestrians for their patience while this work is completed.

The project is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. There will be no interruption to natural gas service for customers during construction.

This work is part of NorthWestern Energy’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable natural gas system while planning for future needs in the Great Falls community.
